The Color of Soap Is Not Available on Amazon!

I’m excited to announce that my newest book, The Color of Soap, is now available on Amazon!

This book began with a simple question:

Why do natural soaps turn so many different colors?

As I continued making soap, I found myself fascinated by the incredible variety of colors that naturally appear during the soapmaking process. Freshly poured soap often changes dramatically as it cures. Tallow, olive oil, lard, honey, charcoal, herbs, clays, essential oils, and even the curing environment can all influence the final appearance of a bar.

What started as curiosity soon became a research project.

Instead of simply accepting that “soap changes color,” I wanted to understand why. I spent months documenting ingredients, recording observations, comparing batches, reading historical references, and learning the chemistry behind natural soap colors. The result is a book that explores not only what happens, but the reasons behind it.

Rather than focusing on bright synthetic colors, this book celebrates the beautiful shades created by nature itself. Creamy ivory tallow soaps, rich charcoal bars, warm honey tones, botanical infusions, earth clays, and the surprising transformations that occur during curing all have a story to tell.

My hope is that this book encourages soapmakers to observe their craft more closely and to appreciate the remarkable science hidden inside every batch.

This project is especially meaningful to me because it reflects something I believe deeply:

The more we understand what we’re making, the better we become at making it.
